Don-Lo Ranch NEW LISTING

Property Description

5,678 Acres in Macdoel, CA – $14,000,000

A diverse property in the productive Butte Valley of northern Siskiyou County. Historically a large scale cattle and hay operation, this 5600+ acre ranch offers the opportunity to become diversified on the farm side with over 1,000 acres of flat, fertile, farmable land well suited for strawberry production. Strawberries have taken over the valley as the number one crop and there are several operations planting on the same soils that are found on this property. This farmland has been used mainly for alfalfa hay production.

Significant infrastructure is in place to support a large scale hay operation. There are ten hay barns and one potato shed that can store hay under cover, two shops, and certified truck scales for selling hay off the ranch. All stack yards are rocked with cinders from the ranch pit. On the cattle side there are two main handling facilities.

Both are covered, and equipped with electric over hydraulic squeeze chutes and modern sweep tubs. The pens and alleys are properly thought out and well built, allowing for low stress, efficient cattle handling. Fenced hillside winter feeding grounds are located near three large hay barns making feeding easy and convenient. The hills to the east of the valley provide “out the gate” spring and summer grazing. The pastures in these hills consist of loamy soils that produce excellent grass hay and forage. Many of the pumps are equipped with variable speed drives which are more efficient. Plenty of employee housing and extras. Would be a great place for a purebred cattle operation.
